First Tori Sinclair's predecessor, who wasn't keen on retiring in the first place, indicates that she's going to make some wonderful changes when she substitutes at the library so Tori can help a friend in the hospital. Then Tori nearly flatlines herself when she watches a woman go into cardiac arrest at the hospital. The woman is Vera, her philandering ex-fiancé, Jeff's, great-aunt.
